Steel Buildings 101

There are many different examples of steel buildings to be found nowadays, encompassing a wide range of different styles and applications. In previous years, the most common applications of steel buildings were as industrial structures. Numerous technological developments have however brought about the widespread popularity of steel as a construction medium. Nowadays you can find steel being used in a growing number of buildings including stores, factories, office buildings and aircraft hangars.
Steel buildings can generally be categorized into three main groups: steel frame buildings, steel pole buildings, and steel arch buildings.
Steel frame buildings utilize steel to form the structure instead of wood. The building is then finished with building materials such as brick. Many steel buildings used as offices, houses, and churches use the steel frame building design.
Steel pole buildings typically use steel posts and trusses in place of wood. Metal sheathing may then be used for finishing walls and the roof, although wood sidings are often used as well. Steel pole buildings are commonly seen in structures intended for agricultural purposes, where they are commonly known as pole barns.
Another common application of steel in agricultural and industrial fields is in steel arch buildings. Steel arch buildings are rapidly becoming a popular option in the construction business, since they can be assembled quite quickly and easily. Since steel arch buildings use arched steel panels in their construction, they often do not need any framing or the use of columns or posts.
One factor that makes steel buildings so popular nowadays is that they can be built in a relatively short period of time compared to structures that use traditional materials. This is of course an important factor in the world of construction when meeting deadlines is always a primary consideration. The speed in which steel buildings can be constructed is mainly due to the pre engineering of the different components in a factory, after which they are shipped to the construction site where they are assembled. Steel buildings can also be expanded or extended easily and inexpensively.
In many cases, the manufacturers of steel buildings will provide personnel to deliver the different parts of the building and even lay them out. These manufacturers often handle every step of the process from its design to its delivery. This helps lessen any difficulties in the construction process.
Steel is currently one of the best construction materials available. It is also a fairly reasonably priced material, and all of these factors contribute to the current popularity of steel buildings. See more Steel garage .
