Moving Does Not Have to Be Stressful

The process of moving can be an exciting with all the thoughts of living in a new home and of the wonderful decorating possibilities, but most of the time the joy is taken out of the process of moving because we tend to get overwhelmed with all that has to be done. Although there are many things involved that would not be considered fun per say, it does not have to be a stressful time if everything is well organized and dealt with systematically.
A moving checklist will make the whole process seem less like a chore because instead of attempting to do a ton of things all at once, you can slowly move down your list and see steady progress. You will want to start your list well before your moving date. The earlier the better, so several months in advance is not too early to begin to compile your list. Your list should include every single thing associated with the move and include a deadline of sorts. For instance, notifying the utility companies may have two weeks before move deadline. Organize your list according to when each task should be completed and start at the beginning.
Some of the more important tasks to include on the checklist would be hiring a moving company, packing material if you choose to pack yourself and filing a change of address form with the Post Office. Of course, each checklist will vary based on individual needs. For example, if you are moving to a smaller home or apartment and have excess furniture or household items, you may want to schedule a garage sale or find a storage facility.
When your list is complete, just begin to tackle each task as scheduled. After each item is complete, you will feel a sense of accomplishment and just a little closer to your moving day. Following this method will allow you to focus on one small step at a time, and when the big day does arrive, you will be calm and confident knowing you have forgotten nothing and your move will go off without a hitch.
