Common Things to Stay Away in Marriage
Marriage is one of the most frail and beautiful relationships of all. It is composed of two people having different values and personalities, but with all their dissimilarities; they still work and live together and become a family. Even minor issues can break a marriage when not given enough attention. Always keep an eye onyour marriage and make changes to have a divorce-proof marriage.
Things below should be avoided in order to keep your marriage.
Avoid the gesture on talking to each other when there is an argument. It is never a solution to a problem by stopping your communication. It is even a sure-shot to ruin your marriage. If you want to save your marriage, talk about your concerns and always open the channels of communication.
Avoid being selfish. Marriage is not only about yourself; it is all about you and your partner, and your kids. No marriage will work if one of the party only thinks about her self and only the benefit if her self as well. Marriage is all about the two people; no matter how different you are, you work on your differences in order to bring out the best in each other.
Avoid outside interference. Always keep in mind that marriage is all about you and your partner. It is the two of you who exchanged vows. And since it is a fact that issues always happen in a relationship; try to find solution without asking outside the two of you. Do not allow a third party to intervene with your disagreements as much as possible. However, asking an advice from a professional is suggested instead of asking a friend or relatives because it is unavoidable that their opinions can be biased.
Avoid taking each other for granted. Simple gestures matters in a relationship. The smallest and the simplest things count in a relationship. Give acknowledgement whenever it is possible but do not overdo it.
Avoid nagging. One of the simplest way to break your marriage is by constant arguing. Nagging should be prevented in any manner when the couple is in an argument. If both of you are at the heights of your anger, better calm down for a few minutes before you continue to talk about your concerns. Hurtful words can never be taken back that is why you have to be careful particularly when you are angry.
Avoid too much restriction. All kinds of relationships need space. Each of the couple has to go out with their friends and officemates at least once a month to avoid suffocation in the relationship. Permit your partner to go out and party as long as he does not overdo it. Give him freedom and allow him to breath.
Avoid comparing the spouse to someone else. Both of you and your partner are of dissimilar personalities. It is not healthy to the relationship if you always compare him to someone. It even ruins the marriage and may even lessen confidence of your partner. The best way to save your relationship is to avoid comparing him to other person and accept him as he is.
Avoid bringing past issues in the present. The reason why your past did not make it to your present is because they are not worth to be here. It is that simple. There is no sense in bringing up your past in your marriage since it does not help in any way.
It does not mean that if you are already married, you have to stop doing the things that can help making your relationship strong. Marriage is like purchasing a car, there is a need of care and you always have to fill it with fuel in order to run it. And most importantly, marriage is meant for two people, not one and certainly not three.
